Our Doctrine

We believe in one eternal God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-existing in perfect community and harmony.

  • We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of all things visible and invisible.  He is all-knowing, all-powerful, and all-good. (Genesis 1:1; Hebrews 11:3)
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, “God in the flesh.”  He is the Son of God, the eternal Word, our one and only Savior.  He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and is both fully human and fully divine.  He lived a sinless life; suffered and was crucified as an atonement for mankind’s sin.  He rose again bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and will return in victory to rule forever. (John 1:1, 14, 29, 3:16; Luke 1:26-35; Hebrews 4:15; Acts 1:1-9)
  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, who indwells every Christian.  The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness, intercedes for us in prayer, guides us in life, and empowers us to become more like Jesus Christ.  The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin. (John 16:8; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19; 2 Timothy 1:14; Romans 8:26)

We believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • God created mankind in his image.  He gave mankind free will that we might fully worship and love Him, and Him alone.  However, mankind chose to disobey God and consequently became sinners, bringing death into the world.  Because of our sin and our rejection of God, we are destined for eternal punishment in hell. (Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23)
  • But because of God’s great love for mankind, God sent Jesus Christ to redeem us.  Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, was put to death on a cross, and took the wrath of God for all of mankind.  He rose from the dead three days later, conquering death once and for all. (Matthew 26:28; Romans 5:9)
  • We receive salvation by putting our faith in Jesus Christ, trusting that because of His grace and atoning death on the cross, we are saved.  We therefore repent of our sin and confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior.  The Bible commands every believer to be baptized by immersion as an act of obedience. (Romans 5-6; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 2:38, 3:19)

We believe that the Bible is God’s Holy Word.

  • The Bible is the uniquely inspired written Word of God, and is the final authority for all matters of faith, truth, morality, and Christian living.
  • The Bible is without error or contradiction in its original form.
  • The overarching narrative of the Bible tells the story of God’s redemption of mankind through Jesus Christ. (John 14:26, 16:12-15; Acts 1:16; 2 Timothy 3:14-16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ consists of all Christians everywhere, and is organized into local assemblies, called churches.

  • Jesus Christ has tasked the Church with sharing the Gospel of Christ to the world, through the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:18-20)
  • We believe the Bible teaches that every Christian should be an active member of a local church. (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:25)
  • We believe that the Elders of the church are the overseers of its affairs and the shepherds of its members; that they are the final interpretive authority of the Bible’s meaning and application for the church; and that they are responsible for the oversight, instruction, edification, discipline, and restoration of church members. (1 Peter 5:1-4; Titus 1:9, 2:1-15; Hebrews 13:17; 1 Corinthians 5:11-13)
